Bristol Tier 4 - 5 August 2023



Well done to everyone who competed at the Bristol Tier 4 on Saturday 5 August.


Avon's Louise King and Yana Jaff Took silver in the Women's Doubles, beating the No. 2 seeds along the way before losing a tough 3 set final (21-16 11-21 17-21) to Megan Ferguson (Yorkshire) and Charlotte Watson (Isle of Man).

There was more Avon success with Andrew Salvador and his partner and Emily Hung (Wales Mid-Glamorgan) comfortably beating the Somerset/Wilts pair of James O’Conner and Sarah Newbon 21-11 21-12 in the SF and went on to a comprehensive win against the No.1 seeds Tom and Susan Godfrey of Hampshire 21-14 21-13 to take gold.


Another strong performance came from Amrit Brar (Avon) who reached the quarter final of the Men's Singles, where he lost in 3 sets (21-9 16-21 14-21) to the eventual gold medal winner Rob Hawkins of Wiltshire. Amrit was the only player throughout the day to take a set off Rob.


Amrit also had a good day in the Men's Doubles with partner Indrajith Maruthonkara (Avon), reaching the quarter final where they lost a tough 3 setter (22-20 13-21 9-21 ) to Louis Baldwin and Bernard Chan of Worcestershire, who eventually took the Silver Medal.
